Proof publishes this list and ranks its own product first. We explain how we chose every pick, and you can check each brand's lab results yourself.

The best CBD oil for your dog is one made for pets, with a recent certificate of analysis (COA) you can open, a THC result you are comfortable with, a strength that fits your dog's size, and your veterinarian's go-ahead. We compared seven pet oils on those points, reading one recent COA per product.

Our own Proof Pets CBD Drops come first, and we say plainly where they fall short. Pet Releaf, cbdMD, and Joy Organics each had a 2026 COA with no THC detected on the batch we read. Honest Paws and Charlotte's Web sell full-spectrum oils whose recent COAs show measurable THC.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), no CBD product is FDA-approved for animals, and research on benefits and risks is limited. CBD is not a treatment for any condition in dogs. Talk to your veterinarian first, especially if your dog takes other medications.

How we chose

You can check each criterion yourself:

1. Public lab results. We could open the brand's COAs. Medterra says COAs are available, but we could not retrieve its pet tincture COA, and Lazarus Naturals' lab pages would not load for us, so neither made the list.
2. THC on a recent COA, and whether it reports total THC or delta-9 THC only.
3. COA recency. The date on the COA we read. Other batches were not checked.
4. Other testing: pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, mycotoxins, microbials, or potency only.
5. Carrier oil and strength options.
6. Price per mg: the one-time price on the brand's site on 23 Sep 2026, divided by labeled mg.
7. NASC seal: listed with the Quality Seal on the National Animal Supplement Council member list.

Federal Section 781 takes effect 12 Nov 2026. It measures total THC after decarboxylation and caps it at 0.4 mg per container. Where a recent COA shows more, we state the figure and date. We do not predict outcomes, and this is not legal advice.

Proof Pets CBD Drops are a THC-free CBD oil for pets: 300 mg of CBD per 15 ml bottle in MCT coconut oil, listed at $35. The finished-product COA from SC Labs (Santa Cruz, California; ISO/IEC 17025), dated 12 May 2025, shows 305 mg total CBD and total THC not detected. It is posted on our lab testing page.

Proof is women-owned and based in Sonoma County, California, making CBD products since 2016. CEO Sarah Miletich holds a BS in Organic Chemistry and formulates and quality-checks every batch. To be exact: the finished-product COA covers potency and microbials, while the full contaminant panel is posted for the raw CBD distillate (KCA Laboratories, November 2025, THC not detected). Good fit if: you want a THC-free oil with a short ingredient list from a small California maker.

Not the best fit if: you need more than one strength (we make only 300 mg), your dog wants a flavored oil (we offer no flavor options), or you want a finished-product COA newer than May 2025. At about $0.12 per mg, it also costs more per mg than the larger bottles from cbdMD, Joy Organics, and HolistaPet.

2. Pet Releaf USDA Organic Daily Releaf Hemp Oil

Pet Releaf's organic, full-spectrum oil comes in four sizes labeled by dog weight, 100 mg to 750 mg per 1 fl oz bottle, in organic MCT oil with a neutral flavor. The COA we read (SC Labs, 5 Feb 2026, 750 mg batch) showed total THC not detected and 849.45 mg CBD, with pesticides, mycotoxins, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbials all not detected. You can search its COAs by lot number, and it carries the NASC seal.

The label lists "hemp per bottle" rather than CBD, so our price per mg uses that figure.

Good fit if: you want a recent full-panel COA, lot lookup, and the NASC seal.

Not the best fit if: you want a low price per mg on a small bottle (about $0.27 on the 100 mg size) or a label that states CBD.

3. cbdMD Broad Spectrum CBD Dog Oil Tincture

cbdMD's dog oil (its Paw CBD line) comes in 300, 750, and 1,500 mg per 30 mL bottle, in MCT oil with peanut butter flavor, listed at $24.99 to $59.99: about $0.04 per mg on the largest size. The COA we read (KCA Laboratories, 7 Apr 2026, 750 mg batch) showed 28.2 mg CBD per mL, about 846 mg per bottle by our arithmetic, with heavy metals, microbials, mycotoxins, pesticides, and residual solvents all tested. cbdMD's COAs are searchable by batch number, and it carries the NASC seal.

That COA reports total delta-9 THC not detected, which is not the same as the total THC measure Section 781 uses. The product page says "THC free" with an asterisk and carries a Prop 65 warning for THC.

Good fit if: you want a low price per mg, a flavored oil, and the NASC seal.

Not the best fit if: you want a COA that reports total THC, or an unflavored option.

4. Joy Organics Organic THC-Free CBD Tinctures for Dogs and Cats

Joy Organics sells a USDA Organic broad-spectrum oil for dogs and cats, 450 mg or 900 mg per 1 oz bottle, listed at $34.95 and $49.95. It is the only oil here made with organic extra virgin olive oil. The COA we read (SC Labs, 29 Jan 2026, 900 mg lot) showed total THC not detected, and Joy's summary lists 951 mg CBD and a PASS for pesticides, heavy metals, microbials, mycotoxins, and residual solvents. Joy's pet COAs are listed by lot.

Joy offers a 90-day money-back guarantee and does not appear on the NASC list.

Good fit if: you prefer an olive oil carrier and a THC-free result on a recent full-panel COA.

Not the best fit if: you want the NASC seal or a very small bottle.

5. Honest Paws Well CBD Oil

Honest Paws sells a USDA Organic full-spectrum oil in organic MCT oil, 125 mg to 1,000 mg per 30 mL bottle, with no added flavors, listed at $24.95 to $94.95. Its verify page finds COAs by batch, and the one we read showed pesticides, mycotoxins, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbials all not detected. It carries the NASC seal.

As a full-spectrum oil, it also contains THC. The Well Tincture 1000 mg batch we read (SC Labs, 16 May 2026) showed 38.31 mg total THC per 30 mL bottle, and a Calm Tincture 1000 mg batch from the same date showed 30.21 mg. As of September 2026, both are well above the 0.4 mg per container cap in Section 781, effective 12 Nov 2026.

Good fit if: you and your vet want a full-spectrum oil with batch COAs and a full panel.

Not the best fit if: you want a THC-free oil.

6. Charlotte's Web 17MG CBD Oil for Dogs

Charlotte's Web makes a full-spectrum dog oil at 17 mg CBD per mL (per the product name) in MCT oil, chicken or unflavored, listed at $59.99 for 30 mL and $149.99 for 100 mL. The page does not state a per-bottle CBD total, so we did not compute price per mg. Its COA page lists PDFs by lot, and it carries the NASC seal.

The COA we read was the newest here (Eurofins, 21 Aug 2026): 19.2 mg CBD and 0.152 mg total THC per mL, which is about 4.6 mg THC in a 30 mL bottle by our arithmetic, above the Section 781 cap as of September 2026. It covered heavy metals, mycotoxins, residual solvents, and pesticides, but we found no microbial section.

Good fit if: you want a very recent COA, a chicken flavor, and the NASC seal.

Not the best fit if: you want a THC-free oil or an easy per-bottle total.

7. HolistaPet Broad-Spectrum CBD Oil for Dogs

HolistaPet has the widest range: five strengths from 150 mg to 3,000 mg, in Original, Chicken, or Salmon, with hemp seed oil as the carrier, listed at $29.95 to $124.95. The 3,000 mg bottle works out to about $0.04 per mg.

Every dog tincture COA on its COA page was dated 2023 to early 2024. The one we read (ACS Laboratory, 20 Mar 2024) showed THC none detected and 792 mg CBD on a 600 mg label, but it was potency only and marked "R&D." HolistaPet is not on the NASC list.

Good fit if: you need a very small or very large bottle, or a flavor.

Not the best fit if: you want a recent COA, contaminant testing, or the NASC seal.
