Lab Testing & Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
CBD is still a young, largely unregulated industry at the federal level. That means it is possible to buy a CBD product with no clear picture of what is in the bottle, or what is not. At Proof, we believe what is not in your product matters just as much as what is.
That is why the hemp extracts we use are supported by independent ingredient-level testing, and why our hemp formulations use COA-validated methods. Our cannabis products also complete the independent testing required before release for sale. We publish the available documentation so you can review it for yourself.
Our Testing Partners
Proof works with two respected names in cannabis and hemp testing: Anresco Laboratories and SC Labs. Both are ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, independent testing facilities. They have no financial stake in whether products pass or fail, and they meet internationally recognized standards for laboratory competence.
Anresco, based in San Francisco, is one of the most established food and cannabis testing laboratories in the country. SC Labs is a longtime pioneer in cannabis testing, known for rigorous standards across the industry.
We do not choose our laboratories based on convenience. We choose them because we want clear, credible results about our products.

What We Test For
Cannabis products complete the full testing panels required before approval for sale. For hemp, our approach centers on ingredient-level testing and COA-validated formulation methods, so the hemp inputs and formulation process are both documented and verified.
Across both channels, our program screens for the following:
Cannabinoid Potency
Confirms the reported CBD, CBN, THC, and other cannabinoid levels align with the product label. No guessing and no rounding up.
Pesticides
Screens for residues from cultivation to help ensure nothing unwanted made its way from the field into the extract.
Heavy Metals
Checks for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury, which hemp plants can absorb from soil and water.
Mycotoxins
Tests for toxic compounds produced by mold that can grow on plant material if it is not handled correctly.
Residual Solvents
Confirms that solvents used during extraction have been properly removed, leaving no concerning residue behind.
Microbial Contaminants
Screens for harmful bacteria, yeast, and mold to help verify that products are clean and safe to use.
For cannabis, a product that does not pass required testing is not released for sale. For hemp, independently verified ingredients and COA-validated formulation methods support consistency and transparency in every formulation.
How to Read a COA
A Certificate of Analysis, or COA, can look intimidating if you have never seen one. Focus on these four areas:
COA Reference Details
Review the product, hemp input, report identifier, testing date, and sample information shown on the document. These details tell you what material or product the report addresses.
Cannabinoid Profile
Review the breakdown of CBD, CBN, THC, and other cannabinoids measured in the documented sample. Compare the relevant CBD or CBN amount with the product label.
Pass / Fail Results
Check the results for each contaminant panel: pesticides, heavy metals, mycotoxins, residual solvents, and microbials. You want to see passing results across the applicable panels.
Lab Accreditation Information
Confirm which laboratory performed the work and review its accreditation information. This helps establish that the results come from an independent, qualified laboratory.
